We all have a role to play in reducing the effects of climate change, including AUSTAR. Through commitment, innovation and working together with our customers, employees, industry and business partners, we can help reduce the environmental impact through our operations and in our customer homes.
Right now, the biggest contribution AUSTAR can make to reducing environmental impact is through our set top boxes. In 2009 AUSTAR signed a voluntary code of conduct with the Australian Government committing to improve the energy efficiency of AUSTAR’s set top boxes. Through this agreement the Government estimates nearly one million tonnes of carbon emissions will be avoided in Australian households by 2020. A copy of the code is available at www.astra.org.au.
AUSTAR continues to look for opportunities to reduce environmental impact through our business operations such as rolling out e-communications, introducing energy-efficient IT equipment and reducing business travel.
