Parental Control

Setting your parental control PIN for restricted access

It is important you set your four-digit parental control PIN as soon as possible on your AUSTAR service. This PIN controls access to your TV service. This is particularly important for families with children, as it offers a level of parental control even when you are not around.

To set your PIN follow these simple steps:
1.

Press the [active] button on your AUSTAR remote control to display the setup menu on your screen. Using the [up] and [down] arrow buttons highlight 'Parental Control' in the menu then press the [select] button to go to the Parental Control screen.

Using the numeric keypad on your remote control, enter your old PIN (if you have not previously set one, the default PIN is 1234) and then press the [select] button. You will then be asked to enter a new PIN. Using the numeric keypad again, enter a new four-digit number of your choosing then press the [select] button. All of these parental settings can be switched on or off or changed using the simple steps above. We strongly recommend you make use of this facility to ensure responsible viewing within your home.

Error messages associated with your PIN

If you have set your censorship classification at M-rated programmes, only programmes of a lesser classification i.e.; PG and G, can be viewed unless your four-digit PIN is entered. When a programme at a higher rating classification is being aired on the AUSTAR channel you are watching, a message will automatically appear on your TV screen. This program can only be viewed by entering your four-digit PIN.

To view a locked-out programme:

Press [select] on your AUSTAR Digital remote control when the error message shown above is displayed and another screen will appear asking you to enter your four-digit PIN. Using the numeric keypad on your AUSTAR remote control, enter your four-digit PIN and press [select].

This procedure will only unlock the specific programme being viewed. Once unlocked, that particular programme will then remain unlocked until it is finished, even if you change channels and return to it.

All other programmes will remain blocked.

Should you want to reblock a TV programme simply power off your AUSTAR box. When you turn it back on, all your original parental locks will be activated.
