AUSTAR for schools is a FREE subscription of 20 educational channels on AUSTAR. Channels included in the AUSTAR for schools package cover a diverse cross section of key learning areas and support the educational curriculum including history, geography, business studies, science, design and technology, the arts and more.
Any primary, secondary or special school in the AUSTAR service area is eligible to receive the service.
In 2008 AUSTAR for schools expanded the existing education based program to incorporate new and exciting extracurricular activities to further bring education to life. These extracurricular activities include six months of on-site events with AUSTAR personalities visiting schools across the country. The on-site activities help inspire students with a grassroots approach to learning through interactive activities such as sports clinics, cooking demonstrations, science and technology, skills training and music coaching.
Upon completion of each school visit AUSTAR for schools presents a $2000 grant to the participating school to be used by the school towards educational resources for their students.

As Regional Education Sponsor of The Bell Shakespeare Company, AUSTAR brings the arts to regional and rural Australia through programs such as AUSTAR's Schools Work Experience Program and Actors At Work, giving students the opportunity to interact with professional actors exploring scenes from the plays of Shakespeare. AUSTAR's Schools Work Experience Program helps students in regional Australia, keen to pursue a career in stage production, to get a real taste by working alongside acclaimed actors. Bell Shakespeare's Actors At Work comprises two teams of four professional actors, using minimal sets and costumes, performing some of Shakespeare's most dramatic scenes and interesting characters for students.
